Noche internacional

Tomorrow night is International Night at the school where I teach, and I am going to be making baleadas to represent Honduran cuisine. I am super excited for the opportunity to share mi comida favorita de Honduras with the community; I just hope my contribution is a tasty addition to the "smorgasbord" that will be offered during the event. If you have any suggestions for me as it pertains to making este plato, let me know before the end of the evening! Viva la baleada!

  1. Tyler, now that you have wet my appetite for"baleadas" will you please tell me what they are. Do you think they are available here in Arizona?
Be sure to stay well hydrated both physically and spiritually on you journey.

  2. Aunt MaryEllen,

Baleadas are flour tortillas filled with refried black beans, crema/mantequilla (called different things in different countries), and crumbled cheese. They can include more than those simple ingredients, but then the word "especial" gets added to the name.

    Thanks for the well wishes!
